Millennium Goals of Culture

Publication is a transcript of conference which took place in Villa Decius on October 2008, where was presented activity of international institutions responsible for Millennium Goals of Culture. During the conference were defined area and method of acting, started debate of conflict between culture and law, and finally presented initiatives for MGoC and multicultural dialogue .

   

Our Europe

Transcript of educational projected aimed to promote human rights and toleration in Poland, realized by Villa Decius Association In 2007 and 2008. Main objective of program was to create sensitivity towards the problems of  national and ethnic minorities in the context of xenophobia, discrimination and rejection, and, in consequence, increasing acceptance of people of dissimilar ethno-cultural characteristics.

   

Captive Mind Revised

Captive Mind Revisited conference was an occasion to reflections on various political, social and cultural aspects of European relations. Publication include speeches of participants of debate, which was held on October 2007.

   

Visegrad Summer School

The aim of the Visegrad Summer School is to provide an attractive and alternative learning space for young people from Central Europe and enable them to get acquainted with the most important social, security, economic, political and cultural issues which may reinforce or inhibit their European co-operation.

From Decius to Dedecius. The Silent Intelligentsia?

This book was published on the 10th anniversary of restoration of Villa Decius. The publication is a summary of the debate which subject was historical and cultural heritage as well as new challenges facing Europe. The debate took place on 9 September 2006. The book was in both Polish an English thanks to the financial support of the Robert Bosch Foundation.

   

Society of Dialogue

The eight volume of the "Conversations in Villa Decius" series includes the most important speeches and reflections presented during the international conference, which took place 12-13 October 2006. The conference served strengthening of a democratic state of law and civil society through a promotion of an intercultural dialogue and shaping attitudes of openness to the Other. This book was published in Polish thanks to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Villa Decius. Locus amoenus

The publication contains photographs depicting the key events of the recent 10 years of the Villa Decius Association, including the most outstanding figures and invitees of the Villa Decius programmes.

   

Villa Decius 10 years

This brochure was published on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the restoration of Villa Decius. It briefly presents the Villa's history, its purposes and activities. The brochure is published both in Polish and English thanks to financial support of the following companies: PKO BP, BP, SPL, Wydawnictwo Literackie publishing house and Leyko printing house.

Non violent revolutions

The seventh volume of the Conversations in Villa Decius series includes the most important speeches, discussions and reflections presented during the international conference "Non-violent revolutions". The conference was held in Villa Decius in October 2005. The conference served emphasising the role of moral and ethical values that inspire in people the indispensable courage to initiate change. Especially close attention was paid to the term 'solidarity' and what it means in confronting an authoritarian regime or dictatorship. The book was published in Polish thanks to the financial support of the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University College.

Multiculturalism in Everyday Life - Manuals for the teachers

The publication includes the best lesson plans and scenarios chosen by the members of the jury within the framework of the project "Multiculturalism in Everyday Life". These materials are targeted at the teachers who adopt multicultural education practices, in particular in the small towns within the Malopolska region. The publication in the Polish language was published in cooperation with the ZNAK Foundation and the British Council.

Zona

This publication summarises the international project focusing on how the borders have influenced the lives of young people in the countries on both sides of the Eastern EU border. As a response to this question the journalists and photographers from Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Russia and Ukraine presented 20 reportages (press and photo) within the framework of the joint exhibition in 2005. The catalogue is published in English thanks to the financial support of the European Cultural Foundation.

The fifth volume of the "Conversations in Villa Deciu's" series includes the most important speeches, discussions and reflections presented during the international conference "Rebuilding Peace in Post-conflict Communities. Role of media and Civil Organisations". The conference was held in Villa Decius in September 2004. The conference served presentation of tasks of UN and international institutions in the process of rebuilding a State, as well as necessity of dialogue as well as responsibility of mass media in "terminating" conflicts. The book was published in Polish thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Poland and British Embassy in Warsaw.

This new issue of the Villa Decius Newsletter presents an overview of all events and initiatives undertaken in 2004. The publication provides a detailed information about cyclical projects as well as about new programmes. Inside one can find a calendar, which includes general information about the dates and topics of the projects organised in 2004. Published in Polish, English and German languages with the financial support of the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation.

Conversations in Villa Decius 3

The third volume of the Conversations in Villa Decius series includes the most important speeches, discussions and reflections presented during the international conference "The Weimar Triangle and Ukraine". The conference was held in Villa Decius in October 2002. The publication, whose English version is entitled Conversations in Villa Decius 3. The Weimar Triangle and Ukraine. Models of Cooperation between East and West , was financed by the Office of the Committee for European Integration.

Conversations in Villa Decius 4

The forth volume of the Conversations in Villa Decius series was published under the title: Weimar Triangle and Ukraine. European Models of Integration and Regional Cooperation. The book is a record of conference held under the same title in Villa Decius on 24-26 May 2003. It contains speeches, experts' presentations and discussions among experts and students - conference participants. The book published in English thanks to the financial support of Robert Bosch Foundation and Foundation of Polish-German Cooperation.

Tolerance, how to teach oneself and the others

The book was written by Dr Jolanta Ambrosewicz Jacobs to meet the needs of conference "tolerance.pl" which was organised in Villa Decius in September 2003. It deals with the issues of prejudice, racism, xenophobia and discrimination and highlights the need of intercultural and multicultural education.

Apart from theoretical background and analysis, the publication contains excellent sets of practical exercises and presentation of techniques that can be used in teaching tolerance. Annex contains a selection of non-governmental organizations working in the field of education for tolerance. The book was published with the financial support of the American Embassy in Warsaw.
